Chesterfield Bee Festival Returns with Expanded Activities and New Location

Celebrate Pollinators at the 14th Annual Event on September 27, 2025

Mark your calendars, Chesterfield! The 14th Annual Chesterfield Bee Festival is set to take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, located at 10300 Courthouse Road.

Hosted by the Rockwood Park Backyard Beekeepers Association in partnership with the Bumblebee Jamboree, the festival isn’t just about fun — it’s about education. Bees are responsible for pollinating one-third of the food we eat, from apples to almonds. Without them, our local farms (and even our backyard gardens) would look very different.

🍯 Buzzing Into Chesterfield: The 14th Annual Bee Festival Lands at the County Fairgrounds!

If you’re looking for a sweet way to spend your Saturday, Chesterfield County has you covered. On Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 AM to 3 PM, the 14th Annual Chesterfield Bee Festival will transform the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds (10300 Courthouse Road) into a buzzing celebration of bees, community, and local fun.

This year’s theme — “Let It Bee ’25” — is more than just groovy wordplay. It’s an invitation for families, kids, and bee enthusiasts to celebrate pollinators, enjoy live music, sample honey, and learn why bees are essential to our planet.

🐝 A Festival With a Mission

Hosted by the Rockwood Park Backyard Beekeepers Association in partnership with the Bumblebee Jamboree, the festival isn’t just about fun — it’s about education. Bees are responsible for pollinating one-third of the food we eat, from apples to almonds. Without them, our local farms (and even our backyard gardens) would look very different.

By attending the Chesterfield Bee Festival, visitors support awareness of pollinator health while also enjoying hands-on activities, tastings, and family-friendly entertainment.

🌼 Meet the Rockwood Park Backyard Beekeepers

The Rockwood Park Backyard Beekeepers Association is the heart behind this buzzing tradition. Their mission is simple: educate, advocate, and inspire. Whether you’re brand-new to beekeeping or already managing your own hive, they’re passionate about helping people connect with the importance of bees in Virginia.

The group reminds us of something powerful: We Are All Beekeepers. Even if you never don a beekeeper’s suit, your choices — planting pollinator-friendly flowers, avoiding pesticides, supporting local honey producers — all play a role in keeping bee populations healthy.

🐝 A Story of Sweet Impact

Picture this: a Chesterfield dad named Mike decides to bring his kids to the Bee Festival one sunny September morning. At first, his kids are only excited about the food trucks and the bounce house. But then, they stop by a live bee demo. They see thousands of bees moving together like a living orchestra, protecting their queen, making honey, and pollinating plants.

By the end of the day, Mike’s daughter is clutching a new bee-friendly plant from the giveaway and proudly declaring she wants to be an “environmental scientist” when she grows up. His son? He’s halfway through a honey stick and already asking when they can come back next year.

That’s the ripple effect of the Chesterfield Bee Festival — it turns curiosity into inspiration, and inspiration into action.

🌍 Why Bees Matter to Chesterfield (and Beyond)

Pollinators aren’t just important globally — they’re critical here in Chesterfield County. From local farms to backyard gardens, bees are behind the blooming flowers, the apples at our orchards, and even the pumpkins that decorate our porches in the fall.

When residents come to the Bee Festival, they’re learning how to:

🌸 Plant native species that attract pollinators.
🚫 Avoid pesticides that harm bee colonies.
🏡 Create pollinator habitats right in their own backyards.
🍯 Support local beekeepers whose honey is part of the local economy.

It’s not just an event — it’s a movement that helps Chesterfield remain vibrant and sustainable for generations to come.
